Ed. Beer, Samuel Taylor Coleridge

If the voice that is heard in the later poetry is a more labouring one, it is one that remains true to Coleridge's great themes. The role of imagination was always hard to come to terms with: sometimes it seemed to have acted as a dangerous and elusive will-o-the-wisp, sometimes it seemed to have been no less than the vision and the faculty divine.
